Dell XPS 15 and XPS 17 Laptops Get 12th Gen Intel Chips

Dell’s premium XPS 15 9520 and XPS 17 9720 notebooks were announced today, and are gaining 12th Gen Intel chips up to the Core i9-12900HK. Another change to previous XPS models is up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM at 4800MHz memory.

The XPS 15 9520 weighs 1.8 kilos for the non-touchscreen model with a 56WHr battery, but there is an option with a larger 86 WHr battery weighing 1.9 kilos. The XPS 17 9720 note weighs 2.2 kilos without a touchscreen and 2.4 kilos with a touchscreen, both with a 97 WHr battery.


Dell XPS 15

The Dell XPS 15 notebook even has an option with an OLED screen. Both models feature Waves MaxxAudio technology for sound and Dell Cinema for image. One downside of the new models is that the graphics power has been reduced, with 40W from the RTX 3050 Ti on the XPS 15 instead of 45W, and 60W from the RTX 3060 on the XPS 17 instead of 70W.

The Dell XPS 15 9520 and XPS 17 9720 go on sale today in the US, starting at $1,449 for the 15-inch and $1,849 for the 15-inch. the 17 inch. As Dell pointed out, the XPS 17 notebook configuration with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 card goes on sale in April.
